I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and have experience working with children, adolescents, families and individual adults of all ages struggling with a variety of mental health, medical and existential concerns. I practice in Richmond, and Williamsburg, Virginia and offer a personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I will work with you to help you build on your strengths and attain the personal growth you are committed to accomplishing.
My postgraduate training and education includes trauma informed practice, family conflict and violence processes and living through grief and loss. I use a variety of methods depending upon client needs, including cognitive techniques, mindfulness techniques and art based therapy. However, my perspective on psychotherapy has been shaped by psychodynamic theories. Psychodynamic theories promote exploration of emotional patterns and expectations based in childhood experiences with caregivers and in other significant relationships. This perspective and process of therapy has provided relief for clients who had previously struggled with long lasting, unrelieved distress that was not helped by other approaches.
I work together with clients to establish goals for therapy, and to resolve, not only immediate symptoms, but also to develop deeper levels of self awareness and life satisfaction. I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds with a variety of racial, cultural, religious and sexual identities.
